Club Ibis

This is the original Club Ibis located on East 50th between Lexington & Third.

Ibis was actually two night clubs, the Ibis proper on the ground floor and the El Sultan room upstairs. Ibis had a "paris revue" all out extravaganza show featuring a chorus line of 10 beautiful and talented broadway dancers and a variety of internationally known acts plus dining and dancing. Two full shows nightly and three on Saturday, the last show was at midnight. Some years later the downstairs club became the world famous Cafe Versailles and the El Sultan became the legendary Club Ibis of the 1980's.
/i//IBIS-BROCH-EL-SULTAN--001-.jpg Upstairs at the El Sultan featured fabulous Middle Eastern music, (1980/81 the club went strictly Egyptian) dancers and cuisine ... and went on until 4am. Three belly dancers, six shows nightly (each dancer did two shows).
